Katrina, dates with Salman share intimate moments

Katrina Kaif is no doubt riding high on the success of Race and Singh is Kinng, but the actress is quite nervous about her next big release Yuvvraaj. The reason being not only the grand canvas of the movie but also because Yuvraaj is her first movie where she has been pitted as the leading lady opposite beau Salman Khan, though they have worked together in couple of films earlier as well.In an interview Katrina said, "Some of the most intimate moments in the film are between Salman and me, and what you see on screen doesn't come across as forced." Director Subhash Ghai is also in agreement with the actress, he said, "The Salman-Katrina magic is all set to cast its spell on the audience." He added that they rock as a couple and are lucky for each other. David Dhawan was the first one to cast them together in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and they sizzled on screen. Amitabh Bachchan's residence attacked

Two motor-cycle borne youths threw glass bottles at actor Amitabh Bachchan's residence in the wee hours on Monday in the wake of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) attacking the superstar for alleged negligence of Maharashtra. While police denied any such incident, media men deployed outside Bachchan's bungalow anticipating trouble in the wake of clashes between the MNS and Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters, said they heard verbal abuses being hurled by the duo and also saw a bottle being thrown by them. Security was already stepped up at Bachchan's house 'Prateeksha' in Juhu following the MNS chief Raj Thackeray's attack on the superstar for preferring Uttar Pradesh over Maharashtra for opening a girls' college.

I've never done intimate Kissing scenes like these: Zayed Khan

Hard to believe, but Zayed Khan kisses for the first time on screen in Subhash Ghai's Yuvraaj. And the lip-locking girl is Amrit Maghera.Shivers Zayed, "Firstly I've never done intimate scenes like these on screen. I'm a family man with a wife and son. And to watch the scenes with my parents at the premiere gave me the shivers. What would they think?! On top of it all it was our marriage anniversary. What a gift for my wife!" Fortunately Zayed's wife Malaika was quite 'cool' about her husband's dedication to the craft. So Zayed could exhale.

I have faith in my audience - John Abraham

DOSTANA is a success and John Abraham is obviously feeling great, especially due to the fact that he saw a release to his name a year after he was last seen on the big screen in DHAN DHANA DHAN GOAL. 'I am very happy with the success of DOSTANA. Of course, it is the second in row but I know that GOAL was mainly an average successful film. Somehow producers too never advertised its success much due to which the right perception was not created. But that's ok, it happens. I have moved on', smiles John who is looking at an eventful 2009 ahead. 'Whatever the critics may have had to say in the past, the fact is that I have faith in my audience. That's because it understands what I stand for; I am someone who does fun films. Some of them may be experimental, different, but my aim is to always entertain them', says John emotionally, 'Ultimately audience too moves on to the next film and this is what happened with me too even after the BAABUL and SALAAM E

From that incident, the cast and the crew came to know that the couple is not comfortable with each other. The stunt scene was nothing tough for anyone who had starred in action flick like Drona. Aishwarya’s daughterly duties

Her father is currently sick in bed and has been for a while now which has been bothering Rai as she is unable to spend much time with him because of prior work commitments. The celebration was kept small and intimate with just close families and the Bachchan’s minus Junior Bachchan who couldn’t take time off from work. However, he claims that he definitely tried and wanted to because Ash’s parents are not his in-laws but another set of parents which he is fortunate to have. Here is wishing Papa Rai a happy birthday and speedy recovery along with such darling children such as Abhishek and Aishwarya for all parents everywhere

on Don 2 in 2008, but this was delayed as the main lead star Shah Rukh Khan had other films on hold. The plan then was for a mid 2009 shoot but that too may get delayed. Priyanka Chopra, who starred in Don, says, “I think the sequel is a little far now. I don’t think it will start soon. Everyone involved in the project is pretty busy now I

Salman Khan- Katrina Kaif romance in public

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are playing lovers for the first time in upcoming flick, Yuvvraaj though they have acted together in several films.
This is also the time when Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have gone public with their off screen romance.
Salman and Katrina have decided to go public no matter what the odds. Too much intimacy on screen and off screen may deter family audiences.
On the other hand Katrina believes that an off screen romance will have no impact on the fate of a film as Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor proved in Jab We Met.

Kareena Kapoor :Shahid Kapoor is dating teen

Shahid Dates Kareena
How does it feel to see the woman in your life with different partners every Friday? That too in wide-screen glory? Ask Shahid Kapur who is struggling to keep reel and real love apart.
I don't like Kareena in someone else's arms: Shahid
Shahid, who is dating teen heartthrob Kareena Kapoor, admits he's uncomfortable when his ladylove has to run around trees and romance other co-stars in her films. The experience of Fida, Chameli, Hulchul and Aitraaz has been absolutely galling, the actor says.
"How can a lover feel good when he sees his sweetheart in someone else's arms? Although I don't like it, what can I do? Both of us happen to be in a profession where this is a requirement. I am pained each time I see Kareena in someone else's arms. It is difficult for me to accept the situation. But think I will get used to it after some time," he says.

Aamir turns down Adlabs' 60 crore offer?

The news is that Aamir Khan has turned down a three-film offer worth Rs 60 crore from Adlabs. Aamir apparently refused to sign the contract as there was no proper script in place.
The actor has been offered good money even before. In fact, he is believed to have charged Rs 20 crore for Ghajini. So despite them offering him so much money, what went against the Adlabs offer was the fact that they did not have any story, or script in hand when they met Aamir. They simply told Aamir that he would have the freedom to choose three directors of his choice and Adlabs would back those projects. Initially, Adlabs had offered him Rs 50 crore for three films but when they found that Aamir was not willing, they decided to up it by another Rs 10 crore, but to no avail. The actor is believed to have been quite amused but he turned down the offer very politely. He told them he does not do film just for money and that the script was of paramount importance to him. The actor was paid Rs 8 crore for Bobby Bedi's The Rising; Rs 10 crore for UTV's Rang De Basanti, and Rs 10 core for Yash Raj's Fanaa. But just money has never been important for Aamir, one of the few actors who refuses to attend inauguration ceremonies, weddings and other events which can give him good money. He is only known to attend select events.

Mumbai under attack, 101 killed, 600 injured

Gunmen killed at least 101 people in a series of attacks in India's financial capital Mumbai and troops began moving into two five-star hotels on Thursday where Western hostages were being held, local television said.
Gunfire and explosions were heard at the landmark Taj Mahal hotel and thick plumes of smoke rose from the building, witnesses said. There were also explosions at the Oberoi hotel and firing at a hospital where gunmen were surrounded.
"The terrorists are throwing grenades at us from the rooftop of the Taj and trying to stop us from moving in," Ashok Patil, a police inspector said.
Police said at least 600 people were wounded in the attacks which also targeted a railway station and the Cafe Leopold, perhaps the most famous restaurant and hang-out for tourists in the city.
An organisation calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen said it was behind attacks, television channels said. The previously little known group sent an email to news organisations claiming responsibility.
"I guess they were after foreigners, because they were asking for British or American passports," said Rakesh Patel, a British witness who lives in Hong Kong and was staying at the Taj Mahal hotel on business. "They had bombs."
"They came from the restaurant and took us up the stairs," he told a TV news channel, smoke stains all over his face. "Young boys, maybe 20 years old, 25 years old. They had two guns."
India has suffered a wave of bomb attacks in recent years.
The latest attack, apparently aimed at least partly at prosperous Western tourists, is bound to spook investors in one of Asia's largest and fastest-growing economies.
Hemant Karkare, the chief of the police anti-terrorist squad in Mumbai, was killed during the attacks, police said.
"We have shot dead four terrorists and managed to arrest nine suspected terrorists," PD Ghadge, a police officer at Mumbai's central control room, told Reuters.
Japan's Foreign Ministry said one of its nationals was killed in the Mumbai attacks and one injured.
TRAPPED HOTEL GUESTS
Mark Abell, a British lawyer, said he had locked himself inside his Oberoi hotel room after hearing two explosions.
Several hundred people had been evacuated from the Taj hotel, one witness said, but many more remained inside, some calling for help from the fifth floor. Firefighters broke windows to reach trapped guests.
"We came down the fire exit, but I think they took some more people, they are trying to get to the roof," one foreigner told local television. "I think about 15 people (have been taken hostage), about half of them are foreigners."
In Washington, the White House and US President-elect Barack Obama condemned the attacks, as did France, current President of the European Union, and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
A European official was among the wounded.
"My hotel is surrounded by police and there are gunmen inside," European lawmaker Ignasi Guardans told Spanish radio from the Taj. "We are in contact with some deputies inside the hotel, with one in a room and another hidden in the kitchen. There's another official hurt and in hospital."
Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil said there were around four or five attackers in each of the two hotels.
"They have attacked hotels, they have attacked the hospitals, they have attacked the railway station," he said.
KOREANS, EUROPEANS CAUGHT UP IN ATTACKS
A driver told Reuters at least 50 Koreans were stuck inside the Taj with their drivers waiting outside.
"We were just getting ready to pick them up, when we heard the first blast, police did not let us get past and they (the Koreans) are not answering the phones," Deepak Aswar, the driver said. Europeans were also caught up in the attacks.
"I was in the restaurant inside Oberoi and I saw this series of gunshots and death which I don't want to see again," a Spaniard who declined to give his name told Reuters.
"I crawled out into the kitchen and waited there, until I sensed it was all quiet and seemed over."
Maharashtra state police chief A.N. Roy said attackers had fired automatic weapons indiscriminately, and used grenades, adding that they were still holed up in some buildings.
Sourav Mishra, a Reuters reporter, was with friends at the Cafe Leopold when gunmen opened fire around 9:30 p.m. He was injured and is in St George's Hospital.
"I heard some gunshots around 9:30. I was with my friends. Something hit me. I ran away and fell on the road. Then somebody picked me up. I have injuries below my shoulder," Mishra said from a hospital bed he was sharing with three other people.
Another Reuters reporter saw a hospital ward full of injured people with bullet and shrapnel wounds. Many people were crying as the injured were brought in on troller.

Australians, English delay cricket trips to India

Australian and English provincial clubs postponed leaving for India for next week's Twenty20 Champions League because of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and cricket great Shane Warne said he will likely skip the tournament.
Terrorists killed at least 82 people, wounded at least 200 and took Westerners hostage in attacks across the southern India city, where the tournament was to start next Wednesday. One of the luxury hotels in flames, the Taj Mahal, was where English side Middlesex planned to stay.
Middlesex captain Shaun Udal told Sky Sports News on Wednesday the team's scheduled flight to Mumbai on Thursday was canceled. He said the team was waiting for new travel plans, as the games in Mumbai were reportedly moved to Bangalore.
Cricket Australia halted the departures of the Western Australia and Victoria state teams, along with test stars Mike Hussey, Matthew Hayden and Shane Watson who were playing for Indian clubs.
"The state of play at the moment is that that we are not expecting to have any really good understanding of what the situation is for the first 12 hours," CA spokesman Peter Young said.
"We are basically on temporary hold while we assess the situation, while we get expert advice and while we consult all of the parties who are involved. I wouldn't expect we would be doing anything for at least the next 12 hours."
Indian champions the Rajasthan Royals, captained by Warne and featuring allrounder Watson, were to play the Sialkot Stallions at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Dec. 5 and two other matches in Bangalore.
Warne told Melbourne's Herald-Sun newspaper Web site from Singapore that he would likely return to Australia and not travel to India.
Warne and his long-time friend, former Victorian wicketkeeper Darren Berry, were scheduled to catch a connecting flight to the Indian city ahead of the tournament. They are now likely to return to Melbourne.
"It's unbelievable, the place is chaos," Warne said. "We are heading to Mumbai and that (the Taj Mahal) is the hotel we are staying at. I don't think we will be going (to India) now _ why would you?
"At this stage I am going to stay where I am for the rest of the day, but I reckon we are certainties to be on a flight heading home later today. It is just not worth the risk _ no amount of money is worth the risk with what is going on over there at the moment."
Cricket Australia's operations manager Michael Brown, who is a founding member of the Indian tournament and is on its organizing committee, was asked if the tournament might be canceled.
"All options are on the table," Brown said. Dean Kino, a Cricket Australia lawyer and one of the architects of the Champions League tournament, reportedly was in one of the Mumbai hotels targeted in the attacks but had been in contact with family and friends to say he was unharmed.
The attacks could yet affect the travel of England's test and limited-overs international teams, which are already in India.
England was in Cuttack on Wednesday, when it lost the fifth one-day international in a seven-game series. The team was due to travel to Guwahati for the next match on Saturday.
"We will be guided by the foreign office and will await developments," England spokesman Andrew Walpole said. "We need to get a clearer idea of what the situation is before we react further."
Mumbai was also the scheduled venue for the second test between England and India starting on Dec. 19.

Terror attacks on Mumbai stun Bollywood

Bollywood reacted with shock and horror as terror attacks brought Mumbai to a standstill.

  • Terror attacks echo Bollywood movie's theme
  • Mumbai attacks barbaric, says Pakistan
Bollywood reacted with shock and horror on Thursday as brazen attacks on luxury hotels, hospitals and a tourist cafe in Mumbai killed at least 101 people and brought the bustling city to a standstill.
Mumbai under terrorist attack! Terrible! Terrible Situation!" actor Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog (http://bigb.bigadda.com/) just hours after the attacks were reported late on Wednesday.

Hundreds of people, including foreigners, were still trapped by Islamist gunmen on Thursday in a city that has witnessed some of India's worst terror attacks.

Several film shoots were cancelled in Mumbai, home to the worlds most prolific film industry, while security was tightened at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in the nearby state of Goa.

"Shootings in Mumbai, especially those in South Mumbai, have been cancelled because people are scared to come out of their houses, Mukesh Bhatt, chairman of the core committee of Bollywood producers, told Reuters.

But some producers are still shooting. We have to get used to terror now."

Many of the areas targeted in the attacks are frequented by celebrities from Bollywood.

The gunmen arrived by boats in Mumbai on Wednesday, before fanning out and attacking the Taj and Oberoi hotels, the landmark Leopold Cafe, hospitals and a railway station, firing indiscriminately.

To think that any one can walk in with AK-47 into a station or a five-star hotel boggles the mind, said actor Rahul Bose.

Indias film industry lost millions of rupees in revenue in the past two months due to workers striking over better pay. The terror attacks are bound to hit the industry even harder.

"The immediate effect will be that people will be wary of going to theatres so revenues will suffer, Bose said.

In the tourist haven of Goa, armed policemen mingled with delegates and lovers of cinema and a minute-long silence is being observed before each screening at Indias most prestigious film festival.

"We have some 500 foreign delegates here, and we are doing everything to make sure they and the other delegates and our guests are safe, festival director S. M.Khan said.

Oscar-nominated French actress Catherine Deneuve was scheduled to arrive on Thursday while jury head filmmaker Peter Chan was already at the festival venue.

Bollywood actor Abhay Deol is also in Goa to promote his film Oye Lucky Lucky Oye but said his mind is far away in Mumbai.

Celebrating films seems a little selfish right now," the actor said.

User's comments:
the original kaukswe is spicy and has lot of other ingredients.
This essentially comes under sea-food; so instead of the boneless chicken, it would have dried fish/prawns... It is quite a dish and my mouth is already watering by the name of it! :)
What about Ajinomoto (China Salt), which is prime ingredient in this recipe.
u have forgotten the raw ingredients that can be added to the stew.
Hey this recipe is quite incomplete and incorrect!!

But Wenger revealed the Frenchman will play in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.
Wenger said: "Fabregas will be the captain, permanently. I do not have to explain to you why."

Between rock and a long wait

For the patient fans of US rock group Guns N' Roses, the 14 year wait for their next album, Chinese Democracy, has finally come to an end. The album has been so long in the making and postponed so many times that US drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered a free can of fizzy drink to every person in the US if the album was released in 2008. Now they have had to honour that promise.
Rock music journalist Paul Elliott is one of the few people to have interviewed reclusive Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose, and maintains he is the greatest rock star of a generation.

Barack Obama the epoch-changer

A complex life story, told in two books of memoirs, provides clues to Barack Obama's character

arack Obama's historic election win has helped widen the boundaries of the American dream.
Barack Obama's historic election win has helped widen the boundaries of the American dream.
There is no shortage of things which set this vast, eternally surprising country apart - strawberry-flavoured cream cheese, valet parking and a lack of respect for the usefulness of the kettle are three that spring to mind.

Barack Obama managed to connect with diverse voting blocksBut the greatest difference of all is surely the fact that the founding idea of the state is to guarantee the right to the pursuit of happiness.
That is a brilliant piece of phrase-making, because it hints that the dour, crotchety old revolutionaries who wrote the Bill of Rights knew in their hearts that happiness is as elusive as a moose in hunting season.
You are not guaranteed to go to your eternal reward with a smile on your face, but you are encouraged, even inspired, to try.
So this is a place of dreamers and the idea of that great pursuit lies at the heart of the American dream.
Curious coalition
It is an idea that drew plenty of members of my own family here in the past - even though most of them went straight from the boat to a hole in the road with a shovel in their hands.
They came, in part, because the present in America was better than the past they left behind, but mainly because they were inspired to believe that the future could be better still.
The whole idea of the American dream after all is unique - no-one talks about the Irish or German dream, and if there is a British dream then no-one has told me about it yet and I am running out of time.
The problem was, of course, that throughout most of American history the rights to that dream and the possibilities of that pursuit were essentially confined to white people.
Even days out in the sunshine were segregated - his family was confined to a rock-strewn beach for blacks
Nobody ever quite said "all men, except slaves, were created equal" but that is the way it was.
This country was always a curious coalition between immigrants who came in hope, and immigrants who came in chains.
I knew all this of course, in the way you do know the things you read - but Campaign 2008 brought the issue to life in a rather startling and rather humbling way.
It made it easier to ask black Americans about the past and easier for them to tell.
Segregation
At an Obama rally in a southern state a few months back, with thousands of people packed into a high school gymnasium, I met an African-American man who did his best to bring the cold facts of history to life.
It was at a difficult moment during the primary season for Obama, when it was still far from certain that he would win the Democratic nomination, let alone the presidency.

In August 1963, Martin Luther King spoke of his dream for AmericaThe man had tears in his eyes when he talked about the possibility of Obama winning the White House but he was convinced that it would not - could not - happen.
He told me when he was very young he was mystified that, although they lived right beside the seaside, their occasional visits to the beach involved long bus journeys past miles of perfectly serviceable sand and sea.
Even days out in the sunshine were segregated. His family was confined to a rock-strewn beach for blacks.
When he was a little older, in 1960, he went down to the local polling station with his granddad, because the old man wanted him to remember the day he voted for Jack Kennedy.
Except he did not, because a posse of local white men was waiting at the local polling station to make sure he did not dare to go in.
And, of course, he remembered the lunch counters he was not allowed to eat at, the hotels he could only enter through the servant's doors and the simple lack of respect and equality in every eye contact with white folks.
Magic touch
He put it all with an eloquence that I cannot match, but he was not bitter and he accepted that America is changing and that young people do not have the racial attitudes of previous generations.
He just did not think it was changing fast enough for him to see a black president before he died.
Oddly enough, that was the night I started to think he might be wrong.

The senator from Illinois has risen to the most powerful job in the worldThe wait for Obama was as long as always, the security both overbearing and chaotic and the local high school band played a version of Signed, Sealed, Delivered that Stevie Wonder would not have recognised.
But when he spoke, Obama was brilliant - his ability to conjure a phrase, capture a crowd and articulate a vision touched with magic.
I thought of that night again this week, when Obama spoke not to a high school gymnasium but to a crowd of a quarter of a million and to the wider world beyond them.
He is a complex figure, a child of a white mother and a black father who in his very essence draws together two of the longest threads in America's national tapestry and has used his own life story to persuade Americans that hope is audacious rather than foolish.
We have no idea yet if he will be a good president when he sets about the task of shaping history rather than making it.
One of his most important jobs now is to protect the constitution but the truth is that merely by winning the White House he has expanded the scope of its happy promise and set the boundaries of that dream a little wider.

Hindu groups stone screening of Vinayakudu

Activists of right-wing Hindu groups Saturday threw stones at a film theatre here to protest screening of Telugu film Vinayakudu, alleging its title had hurt the community's religious sentiments.Activists of Bajrang Dal and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) resorted to violence at the Rajdhani theatre in Dilsukhnagar area in the city, where the film was being screened.Police later took dozens of protesters in custody.Protests were also held outside a few other theatres in the city screening the film, released Saturday.Claiming that titling a film, based on a love story, Vinayakudu, was insulting to the Hindu deity Ganesha, also known as Vinayak, the groups also lodged a complaint with the police. However, the film's director, A. Sai Kiran, clarified that he named the film Vinayakudu as the hero was a good and lovable character. "I felt the title apt for the movie and did not intend to hurt anybody's sentiments," he said.

Sea eagles could be reintroduced

Conservationists are planning to bring the sea eagle, the UK's largest bird of prey, back to the skies above England.
The bird, known as "flying barn doors" because of its size, could be reintroduced into Norfolk next summer if the scheme gets the go-ahead.
The government's conservation agency Natural England, the RSPB and Anglian Water hope to bring back the species.
It was driven out of England more than 200 years ago and had disappeared from the UK by 1918.
The plans come after the sea eagle, also known as the white-tailed eagle, was brought back to west Scotland in a project that began in 1975.
There are now more than 40 breeding pairs in the area, with 34 chicks produced last year, and another scheme has begun in east Scotland

IBM to build brain-like computers

IBM has announced it will lead a US government-funded collaboration to make electronic circuits that mimic brains.
Part of a field called "cognitive computing", the research will bring together neurobiologists, computer and materials scientists and psychologists.
As a first step in its research the project has been granted $4.9m (£3.27m) from US defence agency Darpa.
The resulting technology could be used for large-scale data analysis, decision making or even image recognition.
"The mind has an amazing ability to integrate ambiguous information across the senses, and it can effortlessly create the categories of time, space, object, and interrelationship from the sensory data," says Dharmendra Modha, the IBM scientist who is heading the collaboration.
"There are no computers that can even remotely approach the remarkable feats the mind performs," he said.
"The key idea of cognitive computing is to engineer mind-like intelligent machines by reverse engineering the structure, dynamics, function and behaviour of the brain."
'Perfect storm'
IBM will join five US universities in an ambitious effort to integrate what is known from real biological systems with the results of supercomputer simulations of neurons. The team will then aim to produce for the first time an electronic system that behaves as the simulations do.
The longer-term goal is to create a system with the level of complexity of a cat's brain.
Prof Modha says that the time is right for such a cross-disciplinary project because three disparate pursuits are coming together in what he calls a "perfect storm".
We are going not just for a homerun, but for a homerun with the bases loaded

Chiru-Charan in 'Bangaru Kodipetta'?

By now everyone knows that Ram Charan Teja’s upcoming flick, Dherudu, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, produced by Allu Aravind in association with B.V.S.N. Prasad under Gita Arts banner, features a song from one of his father’s blockbuster.

Chiranjeevi is close to launching his political party and it remains to be seen whether Chiranjeevi can take time out from his hectic political schedule and boogie with his son on screen.

HOllywood Movie Dunzo! 'Star Wars'

Why We Liked It So Much: Ah, George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy. A few Ewoks aside, it was perfect. Indeed, who among us still can’t make that light-saber sound? (Even our iPods can’t do it now, for Force’s sake!) And 16 years after the final film of the original trilogy hit theaters, super fans camped for weeks outside of movie theaters to be first to witness the prequel, The Phantom Menace. Then it began. There was, well, the aforementioned The Phantom Menace. There was Jar Jar Binks. There was Hayden Christensen. There were the revised first three films -- with a frightfully digitized Jabba the Hutt -- which now are the second three films. But, still, we remained faithful. Somewhat. Now, Not So Much: Need we say it? Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The movie was dull and heartless. The TV series on the Cartoon Network even worse. And this week, the final insult. “Bombad Jedi,” which brought back the obnoxious, and seeminlgly racist, Jar Jar Binks. George, it’s time to admit that your ship, starfighter to be exact, has sailed and it’s time to try something new. And, no, that does not include Indiana Jones 5. As Jar Jar would say, “New-new! Okiday?”
