Alcohol education key to sexual health

Counselling teenagers on the ill effects of alcohol abuse make them more careful and informed about their sexual health. Adolescents are at high risk of sexual health problems such as unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections mainly due to lack of education. To better understand gender differences in how young people think about sex, researchers from America identified 10 groups with 35 girls and boys in each group, all of them aged between 12 and 16 years. Five groups were all girls, and the rest were all boys. The teens were asked to attend a sexual health counseling session cum discussion, located at a socially deprived area with a high rate of teen pregnancy.
